Make sure the name is not reserved when creating a new character.
Minor changes to a reserved name does not make it okay to use.
If someone takes the name of your character and it is not on the name
reservation list then they may use it. Both of you will just have the name,
and if it is reserved after this then no one else can join with it but both of you can keep the name.
